This site has been reluctant to call Manchester United a beautiful team this season mostly due to the antics of manager Alex Ferguson.
The question we have is: Do you have to be good, well behaved and abide by the rules, to be beautiful? If not, then United qualify and you really do have to say that they are playing beautiful football these days.
Yesterday they dominated Portsmouth with a 2-Nil win and Cristiano Ronaldo was superb. Particularly beautiful was his free kick goal, which left Ferguson gushing:
"It was a marvellous hit and no keeper in the world was going to save it because it was right in the junction of the post and the crossbar...He practises all the time and there are four or five of them that do it after training. It's great to see because I can just go back to the office for a cup of tea and watch them whacking them in!"
Very well then Alex, we now dub your team Beautiful United...
